Alumni Spotlight: Lane Keen

Leading Now,

What was your favorite class day and why?

My favorite day was Fort Eisenhower. We did various activities. The jeep rollover and shooting were my favorites.

How did LA impact your professional life/career trajectory/community involvement?

From a professional standpoint, I met people who I would have not met otherwise. My business grew because of the people I met. Personally, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I learned so much about the community. LA has been so impactful in my life. I’ve had two employees participate too.

Are you more involved in the community since graduation? How? Where?

I was involved with Chamber activities even before Leadership Augusta. I’ve been on the Red Carpet Tour committee since the late 1990s. Since LA I’ve had the opportunity to serve on the Chamber Board of Directors for the past seven years. I also serve on the SRS-Community Reuse Organization’s Executive Board.

What's your favorite memory from your class year?

Friendships that are still a large part of my life.

What advice do you have for people interested in participating in LA?

Participate in everything you can. It’s like everything else in life. You get out of it what you put into it. My advice is to immerse in the experience for those nine months.
